TWO NEW WAREHOUSE INVESTMENTS FROM TALAY LOGISTICS
Talay Logistics has invested in two warehouses: a 10,000 square metre facility in Pendik and a 20,000 square metre facility in Gebze.
Ayhan Türkmen, General Manager of Contract Logistics at Talay Logistics, drew attention to high construction costs, rising real estate prices and exchange rate volatility. Noting that these factors increase investors’ hesitation and make it difficult for warehouse supply to meet demand, Türkmen said: “Almost all warehouse investors tend to build according to demand. This means signing a contract with a prospective tenant at the very start of construction. Tenants therefore need to plan a year or more ahead. As part of our end-to-end service strategy, we attach great importance to warehouse investments. These two new warehouses will make it easier for us to meet demand.”
“Warehousing costs have risen by 20% in foreign currency terms”
Pointing out that, due to reduced capacity, warehousing costs per square metre have increased by more than 20% in foreign currency terms compared with last year, Türkmen shared the following: “For our contract logistics operations, we put our first racked warehouse of 10,000 square metres into service in December in Pendik, very close to Sabiha Gökçen Airport. Our second warehouse, located in Gebze near the TEM motorway, will be ready for racked operations in May. With a capacity of 23,000 pallets and mezzanine (multi-level racking) areas, we will begin serving our customers at this warehouse as well.”
Emphasising that they have integrated their warehouse management system software with their customers’ systems, Türkmen said this allows customers to view their stock and order status online.
Explaining that they serve brands from many different sectors, Türkmen said: “We manage our customers’ logistics processes with value-added services.”
