Talay Logistics Becomes a Star of Investment

Talay Logistics Becomes a Star of Investment

Talay Logistics, one of Türkiye’s fastest-growing logistics companies over the past 10 years, increased its investments in the centenary year of the Republic. In 2023, the company invested approximately 900 million TL in vehicles, equipment and green logistics. Onur Talay, CEO of Talay Logistics, said: “In 2023 we purchased 100 tractor units and more than 300 trailers, containers and swap bodies. We will make notable investments in 2024 as well.”

Talay Logistics, one of the stars of growth and logistics service exports, has also become a star of investment in its sector this year. Continuing its investments in 2023 despite the global slowdown, the company’s CEO Onur Talay said they had increased their owned fleet of vehicles and equipment to more than 5,000 units.

100 new tractor units joined the fleet in the centenary year

“In the 100th year of our Republic, we invested approximately 900 million TL. We continued our investments both in Türkiye and abroad. We purchased 100 tractor units and more than 300 trailers, containers and swap bodies. This year we also took delivery of some of the containers we invested in during 2022. The number of our colleagues has exceeded 650,” said Onur Talay. Talay added that they aim to close the year with around 80,000 transport operations across intermodal, road, sea and air freight.

“We acquired our first electric tractor unit and sourced our energy from the sun”

Recalling that they had added Türkiye’s first 100% electric tractor unit to their fleet, Talay noted that the vehicle has already covered 25,000 km. Talay said they would soon make Türkiye’s first electric trailer investment as well, and emphasised that their sustainability-focused investments are not limited to vehicles: they have installed solar energy systems at their headquarters and their Şekerpınar facilities, and use this energy to charge their vehicles.

Also highlighting the European Green Deal in the context of sustainability and exports, Talay stated: “As one of the first companies in Türkiye to receive the Green Logistics Certificate, we have focused on intermodal and green logistics investments. This year, thanks to our intermodal transport, we prevented approximately 80,000 tonnes of carbon emissions compared with road transport, and saved 180 million kilowatt-hours of energy and 30 million litres of diesel.”

Investments in technology, human resources and facilities will continue

Talay stressed that they had invested in facilities in İzmir, Çatalca and Yalova in Türkiye, established companies in France and Romania, and taken important steps towards globalisation through investments in their subsidiaries in Germany, Italy and Bulgaria.

Stating that they will continue to invest in 2024, Talay explained that with their group company TAL Trailer they will be able to manufacture part of their own equipment, that they will offer customs clearance services through Talay Customs, and that they will manage their operations, accounting and finance systems on software they have developed in-house. Talay also noted that they had made a major warehouse investment in Gebze as part of their contract logistics services, adding that the warehouse will become operational in May.
